Dr. Liangpunsakul is a Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Indiana University. His research focuses on (i) identification of non-invasive biomarkers to screen for excessive alcohol use, (ii) basic mechanisms and translational studies to determine the pathogenesis of alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), and (iii) novel therapy for ALD. He is currently the principal investigator of several research projects funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH/NIAAA). He has written/co-written more than 200 peer-reviewed articles. He served as a standing member of the NIH HBPP study section from 2017-2021. Currently, he serves as an Associate Editor of HEPATOLOGY.
